Barbara Wasserman characteristically works in mixed media including oil, pencil and sometimes collage. The pieces are created on paper or wood, and depend heavily on strong drawing skills. Her subjects include silent screen heroines, women in various stages of desire or distress and a bevy of dream-like mysterious beings. Her work is a reflection of her varied life experiences. Born and educated in New York City, Barbara moved to Mexico, where she became an integral part of the Mexican art scene for 18 years. During this period, she was "adopted" and considered a Mexican artist.

Barbara's works are included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Art, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, the Boca Raton Museum of Art, Boca Raton, FL, and the "Image of Mexico II" Museum Collection at the University of Austin, TX. Past president of Mexico, Lopez Portillo, film producer Fred Zimmerman and singer Vicki Carr are also collectors. Wasserman's work has recently been exhibited at the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art, the Boca Raton Museum of Art, the Armory Art Center, Gallery Camino Real, Ken Elias Gallery and the 4 Arts Museum.

Ms. Wasserman has received awards from the National Academy of Design, New York City, The Norton Gallery, Professional Artists Guild, Boca Raton Museum of Art, and the 4 Arts Museum of Palm Beach.
