Hanne Niederhausen is an accomplished printmaker, painter and assemblage artist. A native of Germany, she has studied art in Canada, Arizona, and Florida, where she has been living since 1984. She has exhibited widely in national and international juried competitions as well as in solo and invitational exhibitions. Her work received numerous awards. In 1999 and 2000 the artist was recognized in the State of Florida Individual Artist Fellowship Program.

For Niederhausen art has diverse forms. Whether she works in etching or approaches printmaking in a more experimental manner, whether she alters books transforming them into sculptural objects or mixed media paintings, her concern is the expression of an idea - creating a balance between emotion and intellect.

Her work is influenced by various places that she has lived in (Wanderjahre) or encountered while traveling, and reflects her interest in other cultures. Richly layered surfaces taking on archeological qualities and fragments of imagery allow us to fade to another place and time. The result is works that are at once sensual, allusive and analytical.
