Artist Lorraine Maxwell came to art later than most, but is busy making up for lost time. As a painter, printmaker, jewelry designer, performance artist and educator, Maxwell has a keen understanding of the role that art plays in living a healthy life and sees herself as one who encourages others to think creatively.

Born in Jamaica, Maxwell has traveled and lived in the West Indies, Europe and the US and her art is influenced by the mix of cultures that she has experienced as well as the psychology of the human condition which connects us all.

Focusing on art that benefits the community, Maxwell has not only worked with children and adults to create murals in three parks in Broward County, but in her role as Co-founder of The Randomist, Inc., an interdisciplinary art performance group, has brought a fresh way of looking at art to new and diverse audiences.

Maxwell holds a BFA from Boston University, has had numerous one-person and group shows, both in the US and Jamaica, and her work is in many international private collections. She currently maintains a studio in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
